„I love the fact that if you're open and recognise opportunities, then no two years at Barclays are the same. With a proactive attitude you can always tackle new issues and advance both yourself and the company. My manager actively supported me in this and helped me progress.“

„I took the typical route – I studied business administration, joined a management consultancy and then came to Barclays in 2014 as a Business Design Analyst. I qualified as a Scrum Master and promoted Scrum for two years – it was great fun! Another department noticed this and I was persuaded to apply to Sales & Quality as a team leader. I was then given my own team of 15 members of staff and we achieved a lot together – both for ourselves and our clients. My manager and the personnel department actively supported me and helped me progress.
At the same time, I was completing a 2-year study course via a scholarship for the Young Women Leadership Program. Human Resources actively encouraged me here and I was able to change position to become a team leader in the Commercial Marketing Department. I went on to manage one of the most important projects at Barclays for the Marketing Department for a whole year. Today, I'm a team leader in the Customer Campaigns Department.“
Denise, VP Digital Customer Service Transformation
„My career at Barclays has definitely been shaped by my mentality and proactiveness. Being curious to learn new things combined with the chance to leave my comfort zone and seize new opportunities has determined my career path – and Barclays supported, encouraged and promoted me along the way.“

„I started working at Barclays in 2002 as a temp in the Application Processing Department. I liked the company and the work was very enjoyable. Then a vacancy came up, so I applied and got the job. My curiosity to try new things at Barclays was piqued and I wanted to grow with the company. I eventually took the opportunity to switch to the Dunning Department where I got my first taste of marketing. And I wanted more.
So, I enrolled in evening classes in marketing communication and also took on a marketing internship with the support of Barclays. Building up and developing online sales and marketing became my passion. Being able to actively shape the company and take on additional responsibility and tasks helped me work my way up to the role of manager. Fully motivated I completed a Bachelor's degree in business administration so as to be able to reach my new goals. I now work in the COO Division with my own team and can help shape the digital transformation of the company.“
Konstantin, Head of Commercial Optimization
„Is it possible to juggle both family life and your career? At Barclays I've found the perfect employer who allows me to do just that. It's been working wonderfully for 7 years now. I can take care of my family, pursue my career at Barclays and have even been able to complete an additional degree.“

„Working at Barclays is always an exciting challenge. I mainly deal with finding new ways to increase the bank's earnings potential. As I studied business administration and am very interested in the economic processes involved in the banking industry, this job is right up my street. It's all about interest rate adjustments and optimising our range of products. I started at Barclays in 2013 in the Change Division as a Business Design Analyst. I worked together with many different departments and got to know the system and the process infrastructure very well.
While I was there, I headed up lots of exciting and innovative projects such as digitalizing the application process. In 2014, I switched to Product Management where I managed exciting projects in the Loans & Deposits Division. In 2019, I was given the opportunity to build up a new product management team for "Commercial Optimization". We're a really great, successful team and we're implementing a lot of new measures.
At Barclays you can take your personal development into your own hands and will receive all the necessary support and encouragement from your line manager. That's how I was able to complete my Master's degree at the FernUniversität in Hagen and still spend time with my family.“
Timo, Senior Manager Financial Crime Compliance
„I've been very lucky in my career at Barclays. But I also worked hard for it. If you want to develop, it's important to be able to think outside the box when it comes to your work. For me this involved exciting interdisciplinary projects where it was necessary to build up a network of contacts in various departments.“

„A trained chef working at a bank? Sounds strange, but it works. After working as a chef, I wanted to study and in 2009, I got a student job in the Fraud Department. I enjoyed it a lot and got really involved. So, my team leader – who at the time was creating a new team – asked me if I fancied doing a bit more. I said yes and after a year, the student job turned into a permanent position. Then came a big project where I worked really well together with an English colleague.
And then another team leader made me a new offer to join the Fraud Department and support both customer communication and all the process documentation. While working in this position I discovered the Compliance Division and got the opportunity to accept a position there – I'm still there today and I'm responsible for preventing financial crime.“
